Prince Kwame Agbata is a Ghanaian social entrepreneur, innovator, and environmental advocate passionate about tackling the challenges of plastic pollution in West Africa. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Coliba Waste Management Services Ltd., a pioneering recycling and waste management company that leverages technology and community partnerships to build a circular economy across Ghana.
Prince founded Coliba in 2016 after losing a close friend during a flood disaster caused by plastic waste blocking drainage systems in Accra. This personal tragedy became the driving force behind his mission to create sustainable solutions that protect both people and the planet. Under his leadership, Coliba has grown from a startup focused on collecting and exporting PET plastics into a fully integrated recycling ecosystem. The company now operates community buyback centers, empowers women waste pickers, and transforms low-value plastics into higher-value recycled products, driving both social and economic impact.
Through Coliba, Prince has led collaborations with major industry players, including FMCG companies, governments, and development partners such as the UNDP and Vitol. His work has been recognized internationally for advancing the circular economy, women’s empowerment, and climate resilience.
Prince is a 2024 Mandela Washington Fellow and has served on advisory boards including Turtle Up, a US-based NGO. He is a recipient of several international awards for innovation and social entrepreneurship. With a background in Information Technology, graduating with First Class honors, Prince combines technical expertise with entrepreneurial vision to address one of Africa’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Driven by faith, resilience, and a commitment to change, Prince continues to lead Coliba in reimagining waste not as a problem, but as an opportunity for transformation, job creation, and sustainable growth.
